چکیده

In this article, the mathematical model used originally proposed by Bruce and co-workers was reviewed and extended. By assuming spherical symmetry of tumour, there were mathematical expressions in the form of partial differential equations along with some suitable conditions for density of proliferating tumor cells, quiescent tumor cells, surrounding tissue macromolecule (MM) and concentration of matrix degradative enzyme (MDE) and oxygen.

Tumour-stromal interactions in acid-mediated invasion: a mathematical model.

It is well established that the tumour microenvironment can both promote and suppress tumour growth and invasion, however, most mathematical models of invasion view the normal tissue as inhibiting tumour progression via immune modulation or spatial constraint. In particular, the production of acid by tumour cells and the subsequent creation of a low extracellular pH environment has been explore...

Mathematical analysis of tumour invasion with proliferation model and simulations

In this paper it is shown that the global existence in time and asymptotic profile of the solution of a mathematical model of tumour invasion with proliferation proposed by Chaplain et al. For this purpose we consider a related nonlinear evolution equation with strong dissipation and proliferation corresponding to our mathematical model and the initial Neumann-boundary value problem for the evo...

Comparing PET metabolic parameters with clinicopathological factors in predicting onset of early recurrence in recently diagnosed hepatocellular carcinoma

Introduction: Early recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a major risk factor affecting survival even after hepatectomy. Many clinical, biochemical parameters and pathological grading like fibrosis 1 index have been used for risk stratifying HCC. However not many studies have combined all of them. It is therefore important to risk stratify HCC especially with newer PE...

Structured Populations with Distributed Recruitment: from Pde to Delay Formulation

In this work first we consider a physiologically structured population model with a distributed recruitment process. That is, our model allows newly recruited individuals to enter the population at all possible individual states, in principle. The model can be naturally formulated as a first order partial integro-differential equation, and it has been studied extensively. In particular, it is w...

A Path Integral Approach to Age Dependent Branching Processes

We develop a fully stochastic theory for age-structured populations via quantum field theoretical methods. The operator formalism of Doi is first developed, whereby birth and death events are represented by creation and annihilation operators, and the complete probabilistic representation of the age-chart of a population is represented by states in a suitable Hilbert space. We then use this for...
